New year, new hat

This is my last night in Mizoram, India. Mizoram is a beautiful, hilly, cold place--perfect to get me in the mood for crocheting. We were able to visit with lots of relatives and make some new friends. As a predominantely Christian state, they celebrate Christmas and New Years like no other place in India with decorations lighting up the night mountain landscape. As you may imagine, this is a huge electrical power draw, so they pretty much had planned power cuts during the days from Christmas to New Years. With no internet or electronics, I was very glad I had my yarn and hook. I made a few more samples of the grey and rainbow stripped hat and then we had this cute little visitor and of course I gave her the hat. She loved the hat and was a natural at posing for photos. It was fun to see again how a handmade gift can cross boundaries and help strenghten the bonds of friendship. Here's to a great new year of more hats and more friends!
